The series also has a live-action television drama adaptation, which aired last year in July. This new season will be directed by director Shin’ya Une at TMS Entertainment in collaboration with Studio Comet, who is replacing Kazuomi Koga.
The series follows Kazuya Kinoshita, a 20-year-old college student who lives in Tokyo. After a painful breakup with his girlfriend, Mami Nanami, he decides to rent a girlfriend named Chizuru Mizuhara, a nerdy girl on campus, and a professional rental girlfriend off campus.
It is during one of their meetings when Kazuya gets a call telling him his grandmother has collapsed and both of them go to meet her at the hospital. Kazuya’s grandmother mistakes Chizuru for his girlfriend and is smitten with how great she is. Now Kazuya has to keep renting her, but things get complicated when they realize they are next-door neighbors.
