1. Highschool Of The Dead
When there’s talk about Zombie Apocalypse, it’s incomplete without Highschool of the Dead.
This 2010 anime series is set in a world where people start to turn into flesh-eating zombies after the sudden outbreak of an unknown illness.
This in turn leads to a full-blown zombie apocalypse. Following the group of high school students who find themselves trapped in their school during the initial outbreak, they must fight for survival while facing several threats.

With its fast-paced action sequences, animation, and fan service, this animated series has garnered a lot of attention from the audience.

2. Hellsing
This 2001 released anime has garnered a lot of praise mainly due to its dark and gothic atmosphere, intense action sequences, and a complex plot involving political conspiracies.
The story of Hellsing revolves around the undercover British government agency, Hellsing, led by Sir Integra Fairbrook Wingates Hellsing, and how the organization protects the world from supernatural threats, particularly vampires.

The series does not explore themes of zombies directly but includes several elements of the same.

3. Seoul Station
Seoul Station is an animated South Korean film serving as a prequel to the critically acclaimed Korean film Train to Busan. The film is set in Seoul and revolves around a young woman named Hye-sun, who is trapped in Seoul Station as the city descends into chaos.

The film also explores the societal response to the outbreak as the infection spreads. This 2016 film adds elements of suspense, drama, and intense action with gore sequences making it a must-watch for people who crave the Zombie Apocalypse themes.

4. Gyo
Gyo is a horror manga created by the renowned Japanese horror manga artist, Junji Ito, known for his unsettling and atmospheric storytelling. The animated adaptation of Gyo was released as an Original Video Animation (OVA) in 2012.
The story follows a couple, Tadashi and Kaori. They encounter strange and disturbing events involving walking fish with mechanical legs, known as death stench, spreading terror all over the place.

The world is thrown into chaos as more and more bizarre and dangerous creatures start appearing.
The anime combines body horror and grotesque imagery to create a sense of unease and dread.

5. Zombie Land Saga
Zombie Land Saga is 2018 anime series produced by MAPPA, Avex Pictures, and Cygames.
The series revolves around a group of zombie girls who are resurrected by a bizarre man, Kotaro Tatsumi. He tasked them with forming an idol group to save Japan’s Saga Prefecture.

Throughout the series, Franchouchou, the zombie idol group, faces multiple challenges and performs to garner popularity and revitalize the Saga Prefecture.
The 2018 anime series delivers a distinct and entertaining plot by combining comedy, music, and supernatural themes.

6. Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead
Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead is an upcoming anime series adapted from the manga of the same name. The story revolves around a 24-year-old office worker, Akira Tendo, who is tired of his monotonous life.
When a sudden zombie apocalypse breaks out, Akira finds himself trapped in his office building. Instead of succumbing to fear, he accepts this new world and creates a “bucket list of the dead”, a list of things he wants to do during the apocalypse.

The story has a very positive take on the catastrophe occurring, combining humor, courage
and a newfound zest for life.

The series is said to premiere on July 2023 exclusively on Hulu.
